Summer Garden in York
This is my first landscape painting in Oil!  When I am tired of the cold winter days, I start dreaming of summer.  This painting inspired me to remember the warmth and beauty of summer days gone by.  I was able to visit this garden in York, Pennsylvania last August.  I have fond memories of sitting in the garden cherishing the beautiful flowers and hearing the birds chirping.

Landon and Brynlee
This is a portrait of a 4 year old girl named Brynlee and her 9 month old brother, Landon.  It is wonderful to capture their joy as they sat and played in a local sunflower field.  It was a special time in the fall, when the sunflowers were in full bloom.

Colored Pencil Commission
This is a commission of two dogs that I did for a friend's daughter.  They are a very special part of her family!  This was done in colored pencil which can be commissioned at a lesser cost than an Oil Painting.

Bree and Hattie
Bree and Hattie have become good friends.  Bree is a year old and is very sensitive.  When she meets someone new or is in a new situation she may cry and get upset.  However, every time she sees Hattie her face lights up and she wants to give her a big hug.  Hattie is a certified therapy dog and has a special relationship with all children, especially Bree.

Baby Bree
This is a painting of my granddaughter, Bree.  She recently turned a year old and loves our puppy, Skippy.  She is our very sensitive and serious granddaughter and I tried to capture that in this painting.  She gives us so much joy in our life and I was blessed to have the opportunity to paint her!

Best Friends
This oil painting is a tribute to my rescue pig, Kirby.  He grew bigger than he was supposed to, so the people that had him as a house pet could no longer keep him.  He was very smart and knew how to get into their refrigerator, even with locks on it!  He is now a fat and happy pig at our small farm in Stewartstown.

Brynlee and Skippy
This is a picture of my granddaughter, Brynlee, with our new Toy Sheltie puppy, Skippy.  They both love spending time together, and have been an inspiration to paint.  It gives me joy to paint pets and children that are dear to people's hearts.

Mother and Baby Shelties
This is the 5th in my series of "Mother and Baby" animals.  This is my Shetland Sheepdog named Hattie.  Even though she has never been a mother she looked like these puppies when we first brought her home.  This painting has a special place in my heart since we have always owned Shelties.  I love them for their keen intelligence and their gentle and sweet nature.

Mother and Baby Leopard
This is the forth in my series of "Mother and Baby Animals."  Even though the mother leopard is a large and stealthy hunter, she nurtures and protects her babies.  Baby leopards are born extremely vulnerable and rely on the mother for protection and food.

Mother and Baby Dachshund
This painting is a tribute to our rescue dachshund, Penny.  We rescued her from a Puppy Mill where she probably had a lot of adorable puppies like this one.  Now, we are thankful that she has a loving family and she can run free at our home.

Mother and Baby Giraffe
The is the second in a series of "Mother and Baby Animals."  The mother and baby giraffes also share a special bond with each other.  I have admired them for being the tallest of all the mammals with their grace and beauty.

Mother and Baby Elephant
This is one of my first in a series of "Mother and Baby" Animals.  One of my favorite animals has always been the elephants.  They are one of the most inintelligent species of animals on Earth. They also form strong family bonds that last a lifetime.  The Mom is very devoted to her babies and they stay together for many, many years.  Since I also treasure strong family bonds, I have always admired them.

Testimony from Client: Ryan Casey
One of the coolest gifts I have ever been given!!! Thank you so much Kelly Pedersen for your incredible thoughtfulness, your talent, and your attention to detail! It looks just like him!

Caught In The Act
This is my granddaughter, Brynlee, and my two dogs, Hattie and Penny. They all love chocolate, and were hoping they would not get "caught in the act!"

Brynlee and Boh
Brynlee is 2 years old in this picture and she and her new puppy, Natty Boh, are good friends. They have a special way of talking to each other.

Cola from Enola
This is my daughter's rescue chiweenie! She was a gift for her birthday and it was also her first year being married. The cottage they lived in is behind Cola.

Original photo used for painting.

Mother and Baby
The mother cat had to have an emergency c-section and lost all her babies except for this one. They had a very special relationship since it was only the two of them.

Finding Love on Summer Hill - Book

Finding Love on Summer Hill tells the story of how Candy the rescue dog was adopted by a little girl named Sarah. The young dog struggles to adapt to her new home full of love and safety until an older dog teaches her what it means to be kind, faithful, loyal, loving, and forgiving. Proving that it is never too late for love and second chances, Finding Love on Summer Hill is a heartwarming tale of the friendship between children and their dogs.
Finding Love on Summer Hill is a book that demonstrates emotional awareness. It explains how actions have an impact on others, and that being loved will chase away fear. These important messages are delivered in a way that is both accessible and entertaining.
Pedersen takes inspiration from her personal life to make a story that is relatable for children everywhere. While Candy sometimes misbehaves, her friends and family never abandon her. The personal growth that Candy experiences in the book makes her an ideal model for children. With its beautiful illustrations and themes of acceptance, Finding Love on Summer Hill will inspire children to overcome their fears and be more kind and loving to those around them.

Gallery Text

Our dachshund was once a breeding dog in a puppy mill and then brought to a kill shelter because they did not like her puppies. Thankfully, she was rescued from the kill shelter in South Carolina and came to live with us. Probably because she had a hard life she has two sides to her. Most of the time she is loving and affectionate, but occasionally she will bite someone that comes to visit unexpectedly. We are trying to help her overcome her fears.

Fall Day
These pigs were at a farm in New England. A friend was riding by on their motorcycle and captured this moment.

This is my Icelandic horse visiting my friend's baby goat that was only a few days old.
